Neil J. Culp, FASM, 72, Reading, Pa., died Feb. 11. A life member, he held various positions with Carpenter Technology Corp. retiring in 1986 as director of the technical department and vice president. Culp wrote numerous technical papers on the physical metallurgy of tool and alloy steels, and held six patents on steel hardening and resistance.
He graduated from Lehigh University with a bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering. Henry W. Rapinz, 85, Hiram, Ohio, died March 28, 2002. A life member, he worked for over 33 years as plant manager and estimator with Horsburgh & Scott Co. and was also employed at Midwest Gear.
