Cast steels resist heat in auto turbocharger housings. (Materials Progress: Metals).

A new line of heat-resistant cast steels has been introduced for turbocharger turbine housings of gasoline vehicles by Daido Steel Co. Ltd. and its subsidiary Daido Castings Co. Ltd., both of Japan. Designated KM. the alloys range from KN2, for temperatures up to 980[degrees]C (l800[degrees]F); to KN6, which can withstand 1100[degrees]C (2000[degrees]F) and is designed for the exhaust gas environment.
