Friction stir welding (FSW) technology has been further advanced with file introduction of a self-reacting pin tool that enables welding of complex-curvature components, according to a presentation at the ASM AeroMat 2003 conference by researchers at Lockheed Marlin Space Systems, New Orleans, La., and NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Ala.
