Cast magnesium part replaces 21-piece stamped steel assembly.(Metals)

This front end support assembly for the Ford F150 truck is the auto industry's first magnesium exterior body component. Cast by Meridian Technologies Strathroy, Ontario, the one-piece casting replaces a 21-piece stamped steel assembly. The conversion reduces weight by 22 lb and cuts tooling costs by more than $7 million over the life of the program.
