Welding technologies that will enable mass production of aluminum vehicles are to be developed by the Edison Welding Institute (EWI), Columbus, Ohio, in partnership with Ford Motor Co., American Technology Inc., and Sonobond Ultrasonics Inc. According to EWI, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has awarded the partners $4.4 million for an Advanced Technology Program.
