An aliphatic thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) from Bayer Polymers, Pittsburgh, Pa., has been selected for the gripping surface of this Grip 3 prosthetic hand by manufacturer TRS Inc. The Desmopan TPU was chosen because of its soft-grip texture, color stability under ultraviolet light, high resistance to wear and stains, and the ability to withstand extreme temperatures.
