A hot-dipped galvanized sheet steel with high strength has been developed for structural applications by United States Steel Corp., Pittsburgh, Pa. Called Dual-Ten 780, commercial quantities are available in a range of thicknesses from 1.0 to 2.0 mm, and in widths up to 1370 mm. Dual-Ten steels are engineered to meet the demands of automakers for high-strength, low-density materials with improved formability to help reduce vehicle weight and cost, while improving crash safety.
