A nickel-based filler metal for joining low-alloy ferritic and austenitic tubing in superheaters and reheaters has reportedly been improved by researchers at the Electric Power Research Institute, Palo Alto, Calif. The filler metal substantially reduces the time required to make repairs to higher-alloy materials, and offers longer life than currently available filler metals.
