HVOF and HIP combine to repair jet engine airfoils.(Forming/Processing)

A process for repairing damaged airfoils in jet engines by combining high-velocity oxyfuel (HVOF) thermal spray technology with hot isostatic pressing has been developed by Flight Support Inc., North Haven, Conn. Called Recast, the process involves repairing the part with the same alloy of which it is composed, thus returning it to like-new condition.
