The oldest trumpets were likely made of animal horns and tusks, and were crafted in Egypt nearly 4000 years ago. The first copper trumpets in the West were created by the Greeks and Romans, and are about 2000 years old. However, bronze cymbals date back over three millennia to Assyria. The Chinese made copper-alloy trumpets and bronze chimes 2200 years ago.
