An acrylic diffusion material that optimizes brightness and uniformity of backlit LCD dislays has been designed by Astra products, Baldwin, N.Y., for ruggedized computers in tracked and wheeled fighting vehicles for the U.S. Army. The Clarex DR-IIIC material is a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) plus additives with a special matte finish on both sides.
