The rate at which we produce oil is about to peak, but at the same time, global consumption of energy is growing at a staggering rate. World population grew in the last century by a factor of six, whereas energy consumption increased by a factor of 80. Civilization is at a turning point, and during the next decade the world will experience the biggest energy demand in history.
