A technique in which liquid nitrogen is sprayed on hard-to-machine alloys to improve machinability has been developed by Air Products & Chemicals, Lehigh Valley, Pa. Adding liquid nitrogen is said to increase productivity and reduce costs while enabling precision cutting at rates up to twice as fast.
