To make sparklers, the first step is to coat carbon steel wires 17 cm long with pure copper. The coated wires are aligned in straight rows of 400 on a board, and are dipped into a thick gray liquid that contains powders of two different aluminum alloys and two adhesive agents: dextrin and flour.
