Platinum nanostructure built by manipulating proteins.(Metals)
Advanced Materials & Processes, August, 2004
Platinum nanoballs, nanosheets, and nanowires have been built by imitating photosynthetic protein functions to manipulate platinum in chemical compounds, according to scientists at Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, N.M. The technology reportedly has the potential to change the metal's properties to make it suitable for applications such as sensors, catalysts, optoelectronic devices, and magnetic devices.
