A Multielectrode Array Sensor System (MASS) for real-time monitoring of localized corrosion in structures such as bridges and aircraft has reportedly been developed at Southwest Research Institute, San Antonio, Texas. Also suitable for applications in chemical plants, power plants, and refineries, MASS is based on multiple miniature electrodes composed of materials identical to the component being tested.
