Mortar barrel segments to be built of composite materials.(Defense/Aerospace)

Mortar barrel segments incorporating the carbon composite material system developed by Goodrich Corp. are to be developed in a contract awarded by the U.S. Army Picatinny Arsenal, N.J., reports Goodrich Corp., Charlotte, N.C. Under the contract, Goodrich will evaluate the performance of its FyreRoc composite technology under live fire conditions in 81 mm mortar barrels.
