A translucent nanoporous aerogel material that is said to be the lightest solid material in the world while providing superior energy savings in windows and wall systems has been developed by Cabot Corp., Boston, Mass. The translucent Nanogel transmits light, and is permanently hydrophobic, making it resistant to both moisture and mildew.
Cabot's continuous manufacturing route is based on a proprietary technology, and is housed in a plant in Frankfurt, Germany.
