Printable silicon cast into sheet for flexible transistor.(FORMING/PROCESSING)

Single-crystal silicon specks can now be cast onto sheets of plastic to provide flexible thin-film transistors, according to scientists at the University of Illinois, Champaign, Ill. The development allows transistors to be placed only where they are needed, and could enable affordable new applications in consumer electronics such as wall to wall displays, windshield displays, and disposable radio-frequency identification tags.
