A low-carbon chromium steel targeted primarily for the reinforcement of concrete has received the ASTM specification for the highest minimum yield strength of 689 MPa (100,000 psi), reports MMFX Technologies Corp., Irvine, Calif. The added strength of the MMFX2 microcomposite provides a significant decrease in the amount of conventional grade 60 steel needed to accomplish the same task.
