Research into the process of pitting corrosion in stainless steel has revealed some surprising results, according to Dr. Jack Hudson and Dr. John Scully, professors of chemical engineering and materials science at the University of Virginia, along with several researchers at the Berlin-based Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society, Germany.
