FDA approves DePuy Spine artificial disc for implants.(SMST SOCIETY)

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved an artificial spinal device to replace a diseased or damaged intervertebral disc. The device is the Charite artificial disc manufactured by DePuy Spine Inc., of Raynham, Mass. The Charite Artificial Disc is a three-piece articulating medical device consisting of a sliding core sandwiched between two metal endplates.
