Aluminum matrix composite cast into auto engine block.(METALS)

An automotive aftermarket "Hemi" engine block (in which the top of the combustion chamber is hemispherical) has been cast by Thresher Industries LLC, of aluminum matrix composites developed and manufactured by Talon Composites LLC, Ontario, Calif. Called Talbor, the composites consist of an aluminum matrix and boron carbide particles.
