U. of Michigan develops first micro-machined cochlea.(OBSERVATIONS)

The first micro-machined, life-size mechanical cochlea, the tiny organ responsible for converting acoustic vibrations into electrical signals in the ear, has been announced by the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Researchers micro-machined the device by a technique similar to those for making integrated circuits, which means that it can be mass-produced.
