A magnesium alloy stent that is absorbed within a few months of being implanted in an artery, propping open blocked leg arteries until it is no longer needed, has reportedly been developed by Biotronik, Lake Oswego, Oregon. This is said to be the first bioabsorbable metal stent tested in humans.
