Porsche engine timing chain parts now made of polyamide.(POLYMERS/CERAMICS)

Timing chain tensioners on the new Porsche Cayenne engine are no longer made of metal, according to Iwis, supplier of the chain systems, located in Munich, Germany. Two grades of engineering plastics from DSM Engineering Plastics, The Netherlands, provide the stiffness and wear resistance needed to support the high-load engine.
