A switch to injection-molded parts from thermoset composites has provided a significant cost savings in the manufacture of unmanned aerial vehicles at Allied Aerospace in Newport News, Va. Victrex PEEK, a high-performance thermoplastic, is now the material of choice for the housing, stator, and control vanes on the EMAV, or electric micro-aerial vehicle, says Victrex USA, Greenville, S.C.
