Proprietary intelligent fastening technology in which fasteners are equipped with embedded microprocessors remotely controlled by intelligent tools, has been developed by Telezygology Inc., Chicago, Ill., and licensed by Textron Fastening Systems Inc., Troy, Mich. Instead of a physical or mechanical contact, Intelligent Fastening devices are actuated by an alternate means, so that a command or digital message can instruct the fastener to lock or unlock, and in the process, achieve traditional connection between parts.
