Multiple ceramic layers consisting mainly of titanium nitride reinforced with nanomaterials have been developed to coat knife blades made of tungsten carbide and cobalt, reports the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety, and Energy Technology, Germany, in collaboration with Kennametal Widia, also of Germany.
