Polymer scaffold incorporates materials to build composites.(OBSERVATIONS)

A rapid and inexpensive method for incorporating high mineral content into a polymer scaffold to create lightweight composite materials with a wide range of applications has been reported by Dr. Carolyn Bertozzi and colleagues at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, Calif. The technique can be used to incorporate ceramics, metals, or semiconductors into hydrogels.
