A 61-pound transaxle case by Walker Die Casting, Lewisburg, Tenn., is a high-pressure aluminum die casting that replaced an iron sand casting. Designed for a consumer vehicle, the die casting provides lower weight and lower cost, as well as casting tolerances that reduced final machining requirements.
