Troublesome leaks in a pneumatic conveying line at a ceramics manufacturing facility were reportedly eliminated when long-radius steel elbows were replaced with six-inch, tungsten-carbide coated HammerLast 300 Smart Elbows from HammerTek Corp., Landisville, Pa. In moving calcined kaolin to storage in ten different silos, the facility's traditional long-radius elbows quickly wore through, requiring patching and replacement as often as every week, along with a daily maintenance check.
