Experts from Cardiff University, Wales, have designed a world-first technology to investigate "gas hydrates"--a super-concentrated methane ice that contains more carbon than all conventional fossil fuels and, therefore, is a potentially enormous energy source. One theory now suggests that when the covering of "methane ice" on much of the seabed of the Bermuda Triangle becomes unstable, it releases methane gas that greatly reduces the density of the seawater.
