Stryker slat armor protects troops.(TECH SPOTLIGHT)
Advanced Materials & Processes, October, 2005 by Sarpen, Gary
The Army developed the Stryker armored combat vehicle in response to the need for a more agile, technology-driven fighting force. The 19-ton Stryker was designed to be lighter than the 65 to 70-ton M1 Abrams tank, but more lethal and better protected than the Humvee at just five tons. The Stryker's light design allows it to be rapidly deployed anywhere in the world in days, compared to weeks for Army tanks and other military vehicles.
