A biologically active glass developed by researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), Berkeley, Calif., reportedly enables metal implants to bond better with bone, and this could significantly extend the lifetime of artificial hips, knees, and other medical reconstructive devices.
