Friction stir welding (FSW) of commercially pure iron and nickel has been carried out in a study at ExxonMobil Strategic Research & Engineering Co., Annandale, N.J. Results of the study were presented in a paper at the 2005 Trends in Welding Research conference sponsored by ASM International.
