George John Shubat, FASM, 90, passed away at his home in Zionsville, Ind., May 14, 2005. He graduated in 1941 from Michigan Technological University, Houghton, with a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering. In 1947, after serving in the Army Corps of Engineers, Shubat joined Diamond Chain Co., Indianapolis, as a process engineer, retiring in 1980 as chief engineer.
He was a Life Member of ASM International, chairman of the ASM Indianapolis Chapter for 1957-1958, and chairman of the ASM Handbook Committee for 1974-1975. He also served for many years on the USAC (United States Auto Club) Technical Committee at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
