Dr. John Convey, FASM, died peacefully January 14, 2006, in Toronto at Sunny-brook & Women's Veterans' Wing. He served as ASM president for 1967. Born to a coalmining family in County Durham, England, in 1910, John emigrated to Clandonald, Alberta, with his parents and siblings in 1929. He received bachelor's and master's degrees in physics from the University of Alberta in 1933 and 1936, respectively, and a doctorate in atomic physics from the University of Toronto in 1940.
