Advanced Materials & Processes, May, 2006
A variant of PZT (lead zirconate titanate) that exhibits an electrocaloric effect more than 100 times stronger than any previously seen in PZT has reportedly been designed by scientists at the University of Cambridge in England. The ceramic material, with composition PbZ[r.sub.0.95]T[i.sub.0.05][O.sub.3], contains about 20 times more zirconium than titanium.
