Polyethylene meniscal bearing acts as shock absorber in knee.(MPMD)

Leading surgeons in Oxford, England, along with engineers at Biomet, Warsaw, Ind., have developed the Oxford Unicompartmental Knee System. The Oxford is the first partial implant with a polyethylene artificial meniscal bearing that is designed to glide freely throughout the knee's range of motion, more closely replicating normal movement.
