A nuclear shielding boron carbide/aluminum metal matrix composite (MMC) is to be fabricated and distributed by Ceradyne Inc., Costa Mesa, Calif., and Alcan Inc., Montreal, Quebec. The companies will cooperate to produce state-of-the-art nuclear shielding structures, which will be formed into nuclear-waste containment vessels.
