High-strength HPDC aluminum pistons raise fatigue strength.(PROCESS TECHNOLOGY)
Advanced Materials & Processes, August, 2006
A high-strength aluminum casting alloy in which the amount of nickel is 5.5% shows an increase in fatigue strength of 150% over conventional material at temperatures of 523K or higher, according to researchers at Honda R & D Co. Ltd., Japan. Composition of the alloy is Al-13Si-4Cu-5Ni-0.8Mg-0.4Fe-[less than or equal to]0.2Mn.
