Peritectic: reactions and transformations.(TECH NOTES)
Advanced Materials & Processes, September, 2006
The term peritectic in the science of heterogeneous equilibria defines all reactions in which two or more phases (gas, liquid, solid) react at a defined temperature, [T.sub.p], to form a new phase that is stable below [T.sub.p]. Peritectic reactions: short range A peritectic reaction is an isothermal reversible reaction in metals in which a liquid phase reacts with a solid phase to produce a different solid phase on cooling.
