TEM with environmental cell enables study of carbon nanotubes.(EMERGING TECHNOLOGY)

A $4 million Titan transmission electron micro-scope has been acquired from FEI Co., Hillsboro, Oregon, by Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind. The instrument has 14 main lenses and another 50 smaller lenses. It is housed in a specially shielded facility to block electromagnetic interference from sources such as powerlines and radio transmitters.
