Carbon nanotubes functionalized to improve mixing with polymers.(EMERGING TECHNOLOGY)
Advanced Materials & Processes, September, 2006
A patented process for functionalizing the surface of carbon nanotubes to make them more suitable for mixing with polymers has been licensed by Nanocomposites Inc., a company spun off from Rice University, both of Houston, Texas. The process significantly reduces the CNT's tendency to stick together, thereby allowing them to mix and bond with the matrix, thus improving mechanical properties.
