Many people think of the Liberty Bell as a symbol of the founding of the United States, but it also links our nation's heritage with materials technology. On Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, ASM Trustee Dr. Frederick E. Schmidt, FASM, officially conferred the long-awaited ASM Historical Landmark Designation on the Liberty Bell.
