The Intermetallic Materials Processing in Relation to Earth and Space Solidification (IMPRESS) project is a multi-disciplinary consortium of 42 research groups and companies, and involves 160 leading scientists from 15 European countries, managed by the European Space Agency. Doncasters Group, Melbourne, England, has been selected as the foundry partner, researching high performance intermetallic materials to manufacture gas turbine blades for aero engines and power generation, as well as in fuel cell development.
