Infrastructure growth in developing nations resulted in 2006 per capita consumption of 97 pounds of metal castings for every person in the world, according the State of the Industry report issued by the North American Die Casting Association (NADCA). However, the dynamics of global competition contributed to slight decreases in domestic die casting shipments, and forecasts indicate further declines in 2007 before production increases in 2008.
