Modified vanadium oxide ([V.sub.2][O.sub.5]) materials for cathodes that run far longer in lithium-ion batteries are under development at Physical Science Inc., Andover, Mass. When a small amount of conductive polymer is added to vanadium oxide, battery performance improves, including the ability to be recharged and discharged many times.
