One of two fully automated phased-array inspection systems developed to inspect aircraft engine components is ready for a Department of Defense installation, reports the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio. The system is designed to inspect aircraft engine components with an industrial robot that is equipped with an ultrasonic probe.
